One of the easiest ways to make your home warmer is insulation! Your home could be losing 25% of heat through the roof and 35% through cavity walls if your loft and walls aren’t well insulated. And insulation can reduce your heating bills and carbon footprint over the long term.
Your property’s Energy Performance Certificate might tell you if your home has loft insulation and if so, how thick it is.
We’ll help you understand whether your loft insulation is considered adequate for keeping your home warmer. We will also check whether you might be eligible for funding to replace it. Many of our Hitting the Cold Spots clients are eligible for funding from the Great British Insulation Scheme. If this applies to you, your adviser will help you apply and will be available to answer your questions along the way.
Protecting the pipes around your home can help to keep the heat inside them and stop hot water from cooling down too quickly. Foam tubes that are designed for this purpose are readily available in most hardware shops and can often be bought for less than £10.
