No heating or hot water?

Hitting the Cold Spots may be able to pay for the cost of repairing or replacing your broken heating or hot water system. If you’re unable to heat your home efficiently because your existing system isn’t working, simply give us a call and we’ll discuss your options. The process is explained in the tabs below.

If you’ve not been in touch with us before, the first thing we ask you to do is give us a call to let us know about your circumstances. You can reach us on Freephone 0800 804 8601. Our lines are open Monday to Friday from 9am to 5pm.

One of the friendly advisers at the Environment Centre (tEC) will ask you some questions about your circumstances. Your answers will help us identify whether you might qualify for full funding for a new heating system, hot water system or any other home improvements.

If you don’t quite meet the criteria required by the funders, don’t worry. We’ll still be able to offer you personalised energy advice based on your unique situation.

If we think you might qualify for funding, one of our dedicated Hitting the Cold Spots energy advisers will be in touch to go through your situation in more detail. They’ll let you know if they’ll need to see documents such as bank statements and energy bills in order to progress any application for funding.

We’ll keep you up to date with your application for funding and your adviser will explain which grant scheme they are applying to on your behalf. Depending on the scheme you’re applying to, you might receive direct communication from the funder too.

We’re here to oversee the application and to act as a link between you, the funder and potentially the installer.

We’re an impartial charity, which means we can’t recommend a particular installer. We can however, help you find reputable tradespeople who will provide a quote for the work in case you need to access your own quotes as part of the process. Your Hitting the Cold Spots adviser will do their best to answer any questions you have.

By this stage, you’ll have agreed a date for the work to start in your home. We’ll still be on hand to answer any questions you may have, and you’ll also be able to speak directly to the installer on the day.
